Breakfast Social Sat 18th November, 2nd & 16th December 10.30am-1pm
We are excited to announce the launch of a very special Outhouse East pilot - the Breakfast Social! You have been asking for the return of cooked food to your favourite LGBT centre, and we now have the resources to trial a pilot project this summer 2017.
So make your way to Outhouse East for delicious lattes, scrumptious paninis and home-made cake!
Transgender Day of Remembrance Monday 20th November @ 7pm
The Transgender Day of Remembrance was set aside to memorialize those who were killed due to transphobic hatred or prejudice. The event is held in November to honor Rita Hester, whose murder on November 28th, 1998 kicked off the “Remembering Our Dead” web project and a San Francisco candlelight vigil in 1999. Rita Hester’s murder — like most transphobic murder cases — has yet to be solved.
Please join us on 20th November at the Outhouse from 7pm for a candlelit vigil, to read the names of the people we lost this year, and to hold a minute of silence.
World AIDS Day #SeeRed 1st December
World AIDS Day 2017 is a joint collaboration between Outhouse East, METRO Centre, Terrence Higgins Trust, Essex Sexual Health Service and Phoenix: Waikiki to bring you an event that commemorates those who have died of this disease, celebrates those living with HIV, and unites to help in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day, held for the first time in 1988. It's important to remember that over 100,000 people are living with HIV in the UK. Globally there are an estimated 34 million people who have the virus. Despite the virus only being identified in 1984, more than 35 million people have died of HIV or AIDS, making it one of the most destructive pandemics in history.
Please join us on the night starting from 6pm in front of the Colchester Castle War Memorial for a candlelit vigil and a choir performance. We will be joined by Colchester MP Will Quince.
We will make our way towards Outhouse East, where we have planned various events: a movie screening, live music and HIV testing opportunities.
At 11pm there will be an official #SeeRed Phoenix afterparty at Waikiki bar and club.
We hope you will join us, and together we can fight the ongoing stigma around HIV/AIDS.
Christmas Carols Mon 18th December @ 7.30pm-8.30pm
Join us for Christmas Carols at St. Martin's Church in Colchester, where we will be singing carols alongside a choir.
